Busting a Move! Zumba Fitness Co-Founder Beto Perez Named First Recipient of Hispanicize 2013 Latinovator Awards
Zumba Fitness co-founder Beto Perez, the Colombian immigrant who parlayed his dance skills to form the world’s largest dance-fitness program, has been named the first recipient of the Hispanicize 2013 Latinovator Awards. Hispanicize 2013 (http://HispanicizeEvent.com), the fourth annual Latino trends event, will take place at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, April 9-13.
The Latinovator Awards recognize Latino celebrities, business professionals and other high achievers who have become crossover successes or whose stories of achievement are remarkable or inspirational.
“Beto’s gym-shorts-to-success story is as inspiring as it is literally moving,” said Manny Ruiz, organizer and creative director of Hispanicize 2013. “Like most great Latino visionaries, Beto persevered through incredible odds and obstacles on his way to becoming one of the most influential individuals in the industries of fitness, Latin music and entertainment.”
Since its inception in 2001, Zumba Fitness has grown to become the world’s largest – and most successful – dance-fitness program with more than 14 million people of all shapes, sizes and ages taking weekly Zumba classes in over 140,000 locations across more than 150 countries.
Today, Zumba Fitness is the largest branded dance-fitness program in the world that has changed millions of lives because of its “exercise in disguise” mantra. Using music as the key ingredient, Zumba has worked with Grammy-winning producers and major recording artists like Pitbull, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar to launch Latin and internationally-inspired music set to contagious choreography, resulting in a “fitness-party” experience that is downright addictive.
In addition to Beto, Hispanicize 2013 will soon be naming five additional recipients for the Latinovator Awards. Each of the innovators will be presented with their awards individually in person at Hispanicize 2013 as part of a special general session where they will talk about their inspirations, business habits and road to success.
