Who’s Who of the nation’s most influential Latino and multicultural bloggers will take center stage at Hispanicize 2013 as part of 22 blogger-focused sessions that were announced today.

Hispanicize 2013, the fourth annual Latino trends event set for April 9-13 in Miami Beach, is a partnership of the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

“Hispanicize 2013 is on track to far surpass last year’s event with more bloggers, brands and agencies converging to meet each other than ever before,” said Manny Ruiz, founder and creative director of Hispanicize 2013. “We know that bloggers and brands depend on our platform to connect with each other so that’s why this year’s program is even more comprehensive and entertaining than last year’s event. We are significantly raising the bar on ourselves.”

Among the long list of this year’s top blogs and social media influencers are: The Online Mom; Charles P.
Hispanicize 2013 has organized blogger sessions into three categories: 1. blogger to brand panels, 2. entrepreneurship sessions, and 3. blogger to blogger professional development workshops/ trainings.

In the spirit of putting bloggers high on the event’s agenda, bloggers will get major red carpet treatment with VIP access to celebrities, high-end giveaways, film premieres, music concerts and a Second Annual Latino Blogger Yacht Party. The event schedule is purposely packed daily with top quality sessions that make it hard for bloggers to choose which days they to attend.

(See the most recently updated schedule online http://hispanicizeevent.com/schedule-2.html)

Even though the blogger portion of the event is unprecedented for its size it only represents a portion of the more than 90 sessions and 260 speakers that will be announced relating to trends and trendsetters in social media, music, public relations, advertising, media, filmmaking. The event’s remaining agenda will be unveiled in the next two successive weeks.
Latino and multicultural bloggers are getting an early Valentine’s Day present today courtesy of Hispanicize 2013 sponsors and the Latina Mom Bloggers network.

Thanks to strong corporate support from some of the nation’s largest Hispanic brands, media companies and marketing agencies, organizers of Hispanicize 2013 announced that for the second consecutive year its “Brands Love Bloggers” program has been renewed to provide more than 125 Latino and multicultural bloggers with free passes to attend the annual Latino trends event. Hispanicize 2013 (http://HispanicizeEvent.com) will take place April 9-13 in Miami Beach’s Eden Roc Hotel. (See the special 1-min. Hispanicize 2013 Preview video here: http://bit.ly/hispz13Rising).

“This program is larger than last year’s, a testimony to the fact that Hispanic brands and agencies are clamoring to engage our thriving Latino blogger communities,” said Manny Ruiz, founder and creative director of Hispanicize 2013.

Added Piera Jolly, president of Latina Mom Bloggers: “We’re excited to once again facilitate this program for bloggers. This year’s event will provide bloggers with unprecedented, direct access to brands and their agencies as well as to top quality blog opportunities, professional development sessions, networking and entertainment.”

Among the Hispanicize 2013 sponsors specifically contributing to this initiative are: Coca-Cola, MundoFox, Sherwin-Williams, Ford, The Clorox Company, Maseca, ViSalus, Transitions, NBC Latino, The Axis Agency, JeffreyGroup, Lanugo, Business Wire, PR Newswire and several more brands. The event’s top sponsors – leading Fortune 500 companies with wide-ranging plans for blogger engagement – will soon be unveiled.

WHO QUALIFIES

The 125 full access event passes are available to Latino and multicultural bloggers who have been blogging consistently for at least one year and fill out a short online form http://bit.ly/VPOEu9. A wide range of bloggers from entertainment to parenting and fashion to tech are eligible. Qualifying bloggers who have already paid to attend Hispanicize 2013 and meet the criteria will be refunded.

Bloggers do not have to be part of the Latina Mom Bloggers network to qualify and both male and female bloggers qualify. A national committee led by advisory board members of Hispanicize 2013 and the Latina Mom Bloggers network will sort through the blogger applications and promptly notify bloggers who qualify. Priority preference will be given to bloggers who did not attend last year’s Hispanicize event. The full selection criteria are on the registration page.

PADRES Contra El Cáncer (PADRES), one of the fastest rising organizations serving Latino families nationwide, has been selected as the non-profit entity that will be the focus of the “El Buen Pitch” national competition of Hispanicize 2013 (HispanicizeEvent.com), the annual Latino trends event taking place April 9-13 in Miami Beach.

Co-created by Hispanicize event organizers and Hispanic market trade journal PRODU, “El Buen Pitch” is open to all agencies with Hispanic market expertise and that submit their entry forms by March 4. More information is available at http://hispanicizeevent.com/el-buen-pitch.html.

“El Buen Pitch will provide a major public service to PADRES Contra El Cáncer, which is on the cusp of expanding to serve more Latino families while also spotlighting the incredible talents and creativity of the agencies that work in the Hispanic market,” said Manny Ruiz (@MannyRuiz), founder and creative director of Hispanicize 2013.

PADRES Contra El Cáncer began its mission more than 27 years ago to support the needs of the Latino pediatric cancer community who have a higher risk of medical problems due to a series of complex factors, including language barriers, socio-economic challenges and limited access to community programs. PADRES has been able to bridge these gaps and provide educational, economic and quality of life programs and services not only to the Latino community but to all families who have a child battling cancer. With the support of its National Spokesperson, Eva Longoria, PADRES has been able to create awareness about the organization and the importance to provide support to families who are in need today.

“We are extremely grateful and excited to be part of Hispanicize 2013 and El Buen Pitch,” said Elvia Barboa, PADRES CEO. “Hispanicize has given non-profit organizations an opportunity to participate in this great event and has created a platform to create awareness about their cause.”

HOW IT WORKS

Qualifying agencies must submit a marketing plan that addresses the creative brief provided by PADRES Contra el Cáncer.

A committee made up of Hispanic marketing professionals and representatives from PADRES Contra el Cáncer will select three finalists that will be chosen to present their campaign recommendations live at Hispanicize 2013 in front of a panel of judges including three senior Hispanic brand marketing executives from Fortune 500 companies, the chief executive of PADRES Contra el Cáncer and an audience of peers that also will cast their vote for the winning agency. In addition to PRODU, the competition is being produced in partnership with Hispanic Market Weekly, The Hispanic PR Blog and the Public Relations Society of America.

As the official non-profit organization of “El Buen Pitch,” PADRES will receive national attention including media coverage from participating partner media outlets and corporate recognition from the hundreds of companies, agencies and sponsors that will be present at Hispanicize 2013.

The winning agency will be recognized with the prestigious “El Buen Pitch” Award, a unique work of art that will come to symbolize the highest standard of pro-bono Hispanic marketing and will be recognized by peers and media alike.

“Soledad’s example of enterprising journalism, integrity and her marketing savvy skills are in many ways a terrific road map for success for all Hispanic journalists,” said Manny Ruiz (@MannyRuiz), founder and creative director of Hispanicize 2013.

Mike Valdes-Fauli, co-chair of Hispanicize 2013 and President of JeffreyGroup, adds: “Soledad’s prominent role in the event underscores how committed we are to making Hispanicize 2013 an uplifting and career-changing platform for all Hispanic journalists regardless of whether they work in Latino or non-Latino media.”

“These are challenging, fast changing times for Hispanic journalists and for Latinos in general,” said O’Brien. “It’s a true honor to co-chair Hispanicize 2013 because in the midst of this huge cultural shift in our nation we should welcome an event that provides opportunities of journalists to hone their skills and network with Latinos in media, social media, entertainment and marketing.”

In addition to serving as the event’s co-chair, O’Brien will also be recognized as one of 2013’s six Latinovators. In 2012, the event named Univision network anchor Maria Elena Salinas to its inaugural list of Latinovators—the highest honor Hispanicize bestows to Latinos who have been trailblazers or whose achievements are inspirational.

The Hispanicize 2013 Film Festival issued a national call for feature length and short film submissions today as part of a robust program expansion for 2013 that will spotlight more filmmakers and celebrities, and will include collaboration with other film festivals. Hispanicize 2013 (http://hispanicizeevent.com), the fourth annual Latino trends event for filmmakers, bloggers, journalists, marketers and music artists, will take place April 9-13, 2013 at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach.
“Our commitment to film is expanding with a festival that is powerfully sharpened to showcase the works and talent of independent Latino filmmakers like never before,” said Manny Ruiz, founder and creative director of Hispanicize 2013. “Everything we’re doing for 2013 is meant to empower filmmakers.”
A Bolder, Unprecedented Agenda Adds Hispanicize 2013 Film Festival Curator Roman Morales: “The goal of the Hispanicize 2013 Film Festival is to showcase ‘The Next Generation’ of U.S. Latino filmmakers. We want to be the launchpad for the future Robert Rodriguezs, Guillermo del Toros or Alejandro González Iñárritus.”
To support these goals, the Hispanicize 2013 Film Festival has several new or enchanced changes for 2013 including:
More feature length films and short films with heavy promotion in traditional and social media, as well as filmmaker profiles: Organizers will work closer with filmmakers to spotlight their bios, photos and film trailers. New media partnerships will also connect filmmakers directly to entertainment media and bloggers.

Latino Filmmakers Marketplace: Hispanicize 2013 will feature its first Latino Filmmakers Marketplace to help connect independent Latino filmmakers directly to investors and distributors.

An agenda and slate of film built by industry influencers: The Hispanicize 2013 Film Festival will be directed by Roman Morales, who returns to that role with an influential national film committee comprised of Calixto Chinchilla, Executive Director of the New York International Latino Film Festival; Jaie Laplante, Executive Director of the Miami International Film Festival; Bel Hernandez, CEO of Latin Heat Media and co-founder of the Hispanicize 2013 Film Festival; Ivette Rodriguez, CEO of American Entertainment Marketing; Hugo Perez, award winning producer and Director of Hispanic Marketing for The Zocalo Group; and Monica Taher, Business Development Director Getty Images Hispanic and Getty Images Latin America.

Content focused on the business and marketing of Latino films: Most film sessions in Hispanicize 2013 will focus on case studies related to the business, financing and marketing of films made by and/or for Latinos. Additionally, there will be a Filmmaker’s Edition of the “15-minutes of Genius” sessions, which are a Ted-like talks featuring five back to back presentations packed with genius insights about a particular topic.

Latinovators and more stars: Expect a lot more star power in 2013. At least one of the recipients of the prestigious Latinovator award will be a major Latino influencer in film and entertainment. In the past, Hispanicize has highlighted Hollywood greats such as Oscar nominee Edward James Olmos, actors Andy García and Steven Bauer, among others.
Cult Classic Closing Night: In 2012, Hispanicize featured a mega closing night program with the stars of “Scarface” at a private mansion in Miami Beach. In 2013, the closing night cult film event will include a surprise movie that merges the themes of film, music and Latino culture in a powerful and fun way.

Zumba Fitness co-founder Beto Perez, the Colombian immigrant who parlayed his dance skills to form the world’s largest dance-fitness program, has been named the first recipient of the Hispanicize 2013 Latinovator Awards. Hispanicize 2013 (http://HispanicizeEvent.com), the fourth annual Latino trends event, will take place at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, April 9-13.

The Latinovator Awards recognize Latino celebrities, business professionals and other high achievers who have become crossover successes or whose stories of achievement are remarkable or inspirational.

“Beto’s gym-shorts-to-success story is as inspiring as it is literally moving,” said Manny Ruiz, organizer and creative director of Hispanicize 2013. “Like most great Latino visionaries, Beto persevered through incredible odds and obstacles on his way to becoming one of the most influential individuals in the industries of fitness, Latin music and entertainment.”

Since its inception in 2001, Zumba Fitness has grown to become the world’s largest – and most successful – dance-fitness program with more than 14 million people of all shapes, sizes and ages taking weekly Zumba classes in over 140,000 locations across more than 150 countries.

Today, Zumba Fitness is the largest branded dance-fitness program in the world that has changed millions of lives because of its “exercise in disguise” mantra. Using music as the key ingredient, Zumba has worked with Grammy-winning producers and major recording artists like Pitbull, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar to launch Latin and internationally-inspired music set to contagious choreography, resulting in a “fitness-party” experience that is downright addictive.

In addition to Beto, Hispanicize 2013 will soon be naming five additional recipients for the Latinovator Awards. Each of the innovators will be presented with their awards individually in person at Hispanicize 2013 as part of a special general session where they will talk about their inspirations, business habits and road to success.

The event is free but requires RSVP at: http://hispz13stage.eventbrite.com

Sponsored by DigiBunch, the evening meet up will be a terrific way for Latino influencers from multiple industries to engage with the Hispanicize 2013 team, learn how they can get involved in potentially presenting at the event and much more. In the spirit of Hispanicize 2013’s strong embrace of the Latin music industry, the event culminates with a 10 p.m. Salsa band performance by Booglaoo.

Hispanicize 2013 (http://HispanicizeEvent.com) will take place April 9-13, 2013 at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach. (See the special 1-min.
Hispanicize 2013 and The Hispanic PR Blog presented a check for $10,000 to the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) last night during HPRA’s annual PRemio Awards in Los Angeles.
“Our partnership with Hispanicize is very important to us and this financial contribution shows that Hispanicize truly puts their money where their mouth is,” said Oralia Michel, president of HPRA’s national chapter and CEO of OMAGEN, Inc.
HPRA and the Hispanic PR Blog/Hispanicize event team have been partners for four years. It’s been a period that has seen HPRA evolve into a national entity that represents Hispanic PR, social media and media professionals with a new chapter in New York and others emerging in Dallas and Miami, among other places. Hispanicize the event (see the preview video here) has also evolved and grown into the Hispanic market industry’s undisputed event representing all disciplines.
“This has been a win-win partnership for us and its fair to say that we have both been as successful as we’ve become because of each other,” said Manny Ruiz, co-founder of the Hispanicize event and The Hispanic PR Blog. ”In the coming year the Hispanicize event and the Hispanic PR Blog will work even harder to continue to support and enhance everything that the Hispanic PR industry needs to succeed. In my view HPRA’s success and ours are intimately connected to each other.”
In addition to its annual PRemio Awards gala, which this year was held in downtown L.A.’s historic Cicada building, HPRA donates thousands of dollars yearly to support Latino college students studying PR, advertising and media. Over the course of its 28-year history, HPRA has awarded $250,000 to assist students with tuition or related school expenses.
