Competition deadline extended to March 21

- El Buen Pitch is the “The Apprentice”-style competition that will recognize one agency for creating the best marketing campaign for this national non-profit organization

Senior Hispanic marketing executives from Target, Kellogg’s and The Sherwin-Williams Company today were named the official judges of the “El Buen Pitch” competition of Hispanicize 2013 (HispanicizeEvent.com), the annual Latino trends event taking place April 9-13 in Miami Beach.

Co-created by Hispanicize event organizers and Hispanic market trade journal PRODU, “El Buen Pitch” is an “The Apprentice”-style competition that will recognize one Hispanic marketing agency for creating the best marketing campaign for a national non-profit organization serving Latino communities. This year organizers selected PADRES Contra El Cáncer (PADRES) as the non-profit entity focus of the national competition.

The Fortune 500 judges who will personally question the three top finalists at Hispanicize 2013 are: Nydia Sahagun, Sr. Manager, Multicultural – Brand Marketing, Target; Jason Riveiro, Multicultural Marketing, The Sherwin Williams Company; and Christopher Rivera, Associate Director, Brand Marketing – Multicultural, Kellogg’s.

“We are honored to have these prestigious judges join us because they are helping us elevate what this competition is about – a contest that has both heart and purpose to help others,” said Manny Ruiz (@MannyRuiz), founder and creative director of Hispanicize 2013.

“El Buen Pitch” is open to all agencies with Hispanic market expertise and that submit their entry forms by March 21, the new deadline. Full entry information is available at http://hispanicizeevent.com/el-buen-pitch.html.

HOW IT WORKS

Qualifying agencies must submit a marketing plan that addresses the creative brief provided by PADRES Contra el Cáncer.

A committee made up of Hispanic marketing professionals and representatives from PADRES Contra el Cáncer will select three finalists that will be chosen to present their campaign recommendations live at Hispanicize 2013 in front of the three senior Hispanic brand marketing. In addition to PRODU, the competition is being produced in partnership with Hispanic Market Weekly, The Hispanic PR Blog and the Public Relations Society of America.

As the official non-profit organization of “El Buen Pitch,” PADRES will receive national attention including media coverage from participating partner media outlets and corporate recognition from the hundreds of companies, agencies and sponsors that will be present at Hispanicize 2013.

The winning agency will be recognized with the prestigious “El Buen Pitch” Award, a unique work of art that will come to symbolize the highest standard of pro-bono Hispanic marketing and will be recognized by peers and media alike.

In an effort to catapult the careers of emerging music artists and Latin DJs, organizers of Hispanicize 2013 today unveiled a one-of-a-kind Hispanicize Music Festival that will showcase the full scope of Latin music artists ranging from indie alternative rockers to salsa groups and even legendary music artists.

“Our Festival will give the Latin music industry a powerful, 360-degree platform that will connect them directly with hundreds of Hispanic journalists, bloggers, brands and agencies – the most strategic audiences Latin music artists want and need to perform in front of,” said Manny Ruiz (@MannyRuiz), founder and creative director of Hispanicize 2013.

Hispanicize 2013 (hispanicizeevent.com / #Hispz13) will take place April 9-13, 2013 at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach. At the fourth annual Latino trends event, bloggers, filmmakers, journalists, marketers and music artists will convene throughout the course of five days for more than 80 sessions to hear 200 speakers present about every facet of media, social media, entertainment and marketing. (See the special 1-min. Hispanicize 2013 Preview video here: http://bit.ly/hispz13Rising).

Hispanicize 2013 Music Festival Overview

The Hispanicize 2013 Music Festival consists of a multi-faceted platform tailored to the Latin music industry. The festival includes:

Concerts and special Latin music events: Every night of Hispanicize 2013 will showcase the music talents of up and coming Latin artists and/or Latin DJs with a special focus on emerging artists. Music festival events will range from performances at the Eden Roc hotel to offsite concert venues throughout Miami Beach and even a closing night event celebrating the cult classic film “La Bamba” that will feature celebrity Latin DJs.

Celebrity music artist performances: Even though the focus of the festival is on the next big artists, the music festival will also showcase celebrity music artists as they will help anchor some of the most important concerts featuring indie groups and performers.

An agenda and slate of music acts chosen by industry influencers: The Hispanicize 2013 Music Festival is being put together by a committee comprised of Linda Lopez, Latin Programming/Marketing - Live Nation; Monica Taher, Head of Entertainment/Partner - Getty Images Hispanic / Latin America; Bel Hernandez, CEO - Latin Heat Media; Vanessa James, President - Vanessa James Media; Rikki Rincon, President, Creative Juice Online and Roberto Somoza, President, World Clique.

Latinovator Award: At least one of the recipients of the prestigious 2013 Latinovator award will be a major Latino influencer from the Latin music industry. In 2012 music legend Emilio Estefan was the first recipient ever of the Latinovator award, the highest honor the Hispanicize event bestows to Hispanic Americans who have accomplished something notable or inspiring in their field.

Zumba Fitness co-founder Beto Perez, the Colombian immigrant who parlayed his dance skills to form the world’s largest dance-fitness program, has been named the first recipient of the Hispanicize 2013 Latinovator Awards. Hispanicize 2013 (http://HispanicizeEvent.com), the fourth annual Latino trends event, will take place at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, April 9-13.

The Latinovator Awards recognize Latino celebrities, business professionals and other high achievers who have become crossover successes or whose stories of achievement are remarkable or inspirational.

“Beto’s gym-shorts-to-success story is as inspiring as it is literally moving,” said Manny Ruiz, organizer and creative director of Hispanicize 2013. “Like most great Latino visionaries, Beto persevered through incredible odds and obstacles on his way to becoming one of the most influential individuals in the industries of fitness, Latin music and entertainment.”

Since its inception in 2001, Zumba Fitness has grown to become the world’s largest – and most successful – dance-fitness program with more than 14 million people of all shapes, sizes and ages taking weekly Zumba classes in over 140,000 locations across more than 150 countries.

Today, Zumba Fitness is the largest branded dance-fitness program in the world that has changed millions of lives because of its “exercise in disguise” mantra. Using music as the key ingredient, Zumba has worked with Grammy-winning producers and major recording artists like Pitbull, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar to launch Latin and internationally-inspired music set to contagious choreography, resulting in a “fitness-party” experience that is downright addictive.

In addition to Beto, Hispanicize 2013 will soon be naming five additional recipients for the Latinovator Awards. Each of the innovators will be presented with their awards individually in person at Hispanicize 2013 as part of a special general session where they will talk about their inspirations, business habits and road to success.

-Hispanic Journalist Showcase will provide in-depth professional development tailored to journalists’ needs

Hispanicize 2013 (http://HispanicizeEvent.com) (#Hispz13), the annual Latino trends and newsmaker event for social media, blogging, media, advertising, PR and film, is about to get a little louder and a lot more exciting.

That’s because the Latin Music Industry and Hispanic journalists will be playing prominent roles in the fourth edition of the blockbuster, five-day event that will be held at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, April 9-13, 2013. (Watch the Hispanicize 2012 Recap Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzWRv9iiZG4).

A partnership of the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA), Hispanicize Digital and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Hispanicize 2013 is a trailblazing multi-industry event that has become a national launch pad for ideas, celebrities, ventures, products, services, films and more targeting Latinos.

“Hispanicize 2013 is where substance meets great content and creativity with sessions about industry best practices, major Hispanic brands, celebrities, bloggers, media, cultural influencers and lots of fun,” said Manny Ruiz (@MannyRuiz), Hispanicize 2013 co-founder and creative director. “Our goal is to tangibly impact every key stakeholder, whether they’re a brand wanting to connect with influential media and bloggers, an up-and-coming filmmaker interested in financing a movie, or an industry professional wanting to learn about the next big thing in the Latino community.”

“There are many ingredients to the success of Hispanicize, but one thing that makes it stand out is a continual spirit of innovation. This event has disrupted its own formula and re-written the rule book, creating an environment in which multiple industries come together to converge, collide and collaborate,” said Mike Valdes-Fauli, co-chair of Hispanicize 2013 and president of JeffreyGroup.

Against the backdrop of Miami, Hispanic media and marketing capital of the U.S. and gateway to Latin America, Hispanicize 2013 will feature a massive agenda of more than 80 sessions, 180 presenters, concerts, film screenings and three after parties. .

The balanced agenda is divided into several content showcases: Interactive, Marketing, Journalism, Film, Music, and Latinovators.

Interactive (bloggers and social media) Showcase: This track features more than 25 sessions exclusively devoted to best practices in social media, blogging and mobile marketing. The event will continue to aggressively build on its legacy of bringing Hispanic bloggers together with the brands, agencies and companies that want to work with them. In addition to the blogger sessions, Hispanicize 2013 will also feature best practice programs about leveraging mobile technology, Facebook, Twitter and other emerging tools to engage Latino communities online.

Marketing Showcase: This track will feature the largest, most robust collection of cutting-edge campaigns from the past year in Hispanic advertising and public relations ever assembled. Among the sessions that will be featured are award-winning case studies from the 2012 HPRA PRemio Awards.

Latin Music Showcase: The Latin Music Showcase will bring A-list and indie music artists to the event for the first time. In addition to music performances and memorable after parties, this showcase will also consist of professional development sessions examining the latest industry trends.

Hispanic Journalists Showcase: A new track, this showcase will focus on providing Hispanic journalists with professional development training and networking opportunities they need to succeed. This showcase also includes a Media Room, Press Conference Room and private interview rooms catering to journalists’ professional needs.

Film Showcase: The Latino Film Showcase of Hispanicize 2013 will build on the inaugural showcase of 2012 to spotlight more Latino films and filmmakers. The showcase will also include professional development sessions for and about Latino filmmakers.

Latinovators Showcase: A major hit at Hispanicize 2012, the 2013 Latinovator Awards will once again recognize Latino celebrities, business professionals and other top achievers who have become crossover successes or whose stories are remarkable or inspirational. In addition to in-depth, event wide interviews with Latinovators like previous honorees Emilio Estefan and Maria Elena Salinas, the showcase will also consist of special sessions devoted to entrepreneurship and innovation.

National Advisory Board
